Synthesizing User Research
Digging into the feedback revealed meaningful insights into the RC jet experience. All the RC jet flyers are motivated by the sheer enjoyment of flying aircrafts within a community. The thrill of executing complex maneuvers, socializing with enthusiasts, and sharing experience on social media, can be a major satisfaction for them.
However, even the power users finds it sometimes challenging to keep up with the latest RC Jet technology, it requires a certain level of mechanical knowledge when it comes to assembly and maintenance. As with any skill, RC jet flying requires experience and practice to master. They need to spend time practicing basic maneuvers and building up their confidence before they can attempt to purchase a more advanced model. Unfortunately, it is a niche hobby which makes it’s challenging to access resources.
Discover Beginner Pilot’s Pain Points
To better demonstrate the differentiations and specific pain points with other team members, I Further synthesized the feedback and came up with the following user journey. We find beginner pilots usually have more pain points from the purchase to the preparation stage, they might give up on the hobby because of the complex product desorption, incomplete instructional guidance, and steep learning curve. “It’s like someone unfamiliar with computers attempting to build a PC. Sometimes It can be very overwhelming.”
Discover Experienced Pilot’s Pain Points
Although experienced pilots still have many problems with technique and limited resources, they have overcome the previous steps and are passionate about flying. For them, the post-flight experience becomes critical. They are looking to fly with like-minded players, a good flying field & community, and better after-sale service.
